1987 batch Alumni meet at Pondicherry from 10th to 12th Oct 2025.
The alumni meet was held for the wedding of Rohan, the son of our batchmate Mohanraj, and his sweetheart, Sara, in Pondicherry. Mohanraj also sponsored our stay at the Palm Paradise Beach Resort in Pondicherry.
The excitement began when Kishore and his wife arrived at the resort at 6:30 PM. They were quickly followed by Richard Moses, Inbaraj and his family, and Selvan and his family.
We were welcomed with a refreshing Arabian grape juice. Then arrived Chinnaswamy Janarthanan and Selvam from Salem, and Immanuel Raj, Ponnusamy, and Simon from Chennai. Navanee joined us for dinner all the way from Poland. After dinner, we celebrated Inbaraj’s birthday with a cake cutting. Selvan’s son, Jeremiah, helped him cut the cake.
Selva Kumar, whom we nicknamed the ‘arranger,’ drove all the way from Coimbatore and joined us around 11:30 PM. Sasi, Michael, DJP, Shankar, Arulraj, and Felix chose to stay separately, a few kilometers away from the resort.
The host, Mohanraj, made a short visit to ensure we were comfortably settled, despite the numerous wedding arrangement demands on his time. It was a great gesture.
On Saturday morning, the 11th, most of us took a stroll on the beach to watch the fishermen returning home with their catch and to observe many couples having their pre-wedding shoots on the beach.
Then arrived D. Thomas, Austin, P. Suba with her husband, and Selvakumar’s wife. Later in the day, the famous five Coimbatore gang arrived along with the new maamiar, the PSG Professor. Subhasini, on the sly, observed me splurging on sweets and gifted me her portion of the Tinneveli halwa packet.
Some of us visited the French Quarters and other beaches of Pondy
Rest of the crowd started to arrive by this time at the resort catching up with each other and the latest gossip.
In the evening, we all attended the wedding reception. We wore uniform red T-shirts sponsored by Siva. At the reception hall, some guests mistook us for caterers because of our matching attire, while others took us for bouncers due to our pot bellies. The star attraction of the night was Naga’s one-year-old granddaughter.

Bharath arrived directly at the reception hall with his wife. After the gala dinner, we returned to the resort only to celebrate yet another birthday—Iyappan’s. It was wonderful that these birthday boys chose to make it to the get-together rather than spending their special day solely with their families.
Seelan and Inbaraj’s wife, Regi, sang some melodious movie songs, such as “unnai kaanaadha kannum kannalla…”. The show continued well into midnight.
After the cake-cutting, the entertainment began with mimicry of some of our lecturers and recollections of funny incidents from college days. Seelan and Inbaraj’s wife, Regi, sang some melodious movie songs, such as “unnai kaanaadha kannum kannalla…”. The show continued well into midnight.
On Sunday morning, the 12th, the early risers headed straight to the beach after their morning coffee. Among them was our eternal bachelor, Guna, still looking for a perfect soulmate on the Pondicherry beaches.
Prakash arrived from Udumalpet in the morning, driven by the Pondicherry native, P.T. Murugesan. W. Rajesh and his wife arrived directly at the wedding venue from Madurai. After our breakfast, all of us headed to the wedding hall, and a few of us checked out of the resort.
All the good times came to a close with the lunch, and each person headed home with a lot of memories. We are now looking forward to meeting up again in Kanyakumari for Austin’s son’s wedding in January 2026.
Let’s all make it to our next get-together in Kanyakumari, under the pretense of another wedding for this young couple on January 20, 2026.
