2hrs 27m.  Family drama.

Dhanush announces a humble idli kadai (idli shop), and wondering how Abdul Kader and Ammavasai go together, you scramble to get seated the minute the hotel opens and have a go at its spread.

It’s not keema idli, kari idli, even podi idli, or Kushboo idli; but idli made with old batter—an age-old, back-to-roots theme handed down from MGR times. A little rava and seasoning tries to make the idli different, but in the end, you know what it is yet cannot complain, because the seasoning added is a lot of moral values, so no one would dare say it’s bad.

A very average flick. Arun Vijay’s portrayal is so weak, and he is an actor capable of so much more. It’s Dhanush all the way, with little scope for anyone else. Rajkiran plays a role he’s done umpteen times, so nothing new there.

Idli kadai : palaya mavil sutta idli.
