David’s academic path has been anything but conventional—but it has been defined by curiosity, faith, and an unwavering commitment to growth. Beginning with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Mathematics, David’s analytical mind was evident from the start. Yet, on the wise counsel of his parents, he made a pivotal shift into psychology—a move that would shape the course of his future.
He went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, followed by a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), graduating with First Class Honours.
David’s honours thesis, titled “Value-Modulated Attentional Capture Does Not Depend on the Associative Learning Subtype Used During Training or Dopaminergic Modulation,” was supervised by Professor Simon Killcross, Dean of Psychology at UNSW. The research explored the intricate interplay between learning mechanisms and attentional processes, contributing valuable insight to the evolving field of cognitive neuroscience.
Behind the academic excellence, however, lies a story deeply rooted in personal conviction. David’s thesis included a powerful dedication to his faith:
“To my God, the Lord Jesus Christ, words cannot express what you have done for me throughout my life, especially this year… Every ounce of success I have and will have comes from you.”
He also paid tribute to the enduring support of his parents:
“To my beautiful parents, I would not be here without you. On your advice, I moved from mathematics to psychology and have thrived in this field… As I move into the next part of my life, in medicine, I will continue to rely on you.”
Now preparing to enter the field of medicine, David brings with him not only a rare blend of mathematical precision and psychological insight, but also a heart deeply grounded in faith and family. His story is one of transformation, support, and a passion that bridges science and humanity—testament to what can flourish when intellect and inspiration walk hand in hand.
